Privacy Policy

Last updated: August 24, 2026

Cozy Crochet is a small online crochet community where people share patterns and photos, chat, and take part in community events. This policy explains what information we collect, why we collect it, who helps us run the service, and the choices you have. Questions? Email hello@cozycrochet.club.

1. information you give us

You only give us what you choose to share while using Cozy Crochet:

  • account information: your email address and password (passwords are handled by our authentication provider and are never visible to us).
  • profile information: username, display name, bio, profile photo and header image, and any social handles (TikTok, Instagram, Pinterest) you add.
  • photos and uploads: crochet and work-in-progress photos, pattern images, pattern text or PDF files you upload, and files you keep in your private library.
  • posts and community content: patterns, photo posts, captions, comments, reactions and saves.
  • community activity: friend requests and friendships, event and movie-night RSVPs, challenge entries and votes.
  • communications: public chat messages and direct messages you send to other members, and emails you send us.
  • safety information: reports you submit about content or members, and the list of members you block.
  • selling and buying patterns: if you sell patterns, you connect your own PayPal account and give us your PayPal credentials so buyers can pay you directly. Payment card details are entered with PayPal and never reach Cozy Crochet; we store only a record of the purchase (which pattern, price, and PayPal order reference).

2. information collected automatically

  • analytics and product usage: we use PostHog to understand how the app is used. PostHog automatically captures pageviews, interactions with the interface, session recordings, approximate location derived from IP address, and device/browser information.
  • basic visit logs: we record the pages visited on Cozy Crochet along with a random visitor identifier (and your account id, if you are signed in) so we can see how many people use the site.
  • technical information: our hosting and backend providers process IP addresses, request data and standard server logs as part of delivering the service and keeping it secure.
  • cookies and local storage: we use local storage and similar technologies to keep you signed in, remember your session, and support analytics. We do not use advertising cookies.

3. how we use information

  • to run Cozy Crochet and create and maintain your account
  • to display community content: patterns, photos, comments, chat and events
  • to power social features such as friends, direct messages, notifications and RSVPs
  • to process pattern purchases and deliver files you bought
  • to send service email (welcome, password reset, moderation decisions, purchase receipts and notifications)
  • to understand usage and improve the product
  • to keep the community safe: reviewing reports, moderating content, blocking abuse and spam
  • to answer support requests
  • to comply with legal obligations and enforce our community guidelines

4. what is public

Cozy Crochet is a community, so a lot of it is meant to be seen. Your username, display name, profile photo and header, bio, social links, approved patterns and photos, captions, comments, public chat messages, reactions, friend counts and challenge entries are visible to other members and, where a page is public, to anyone on the internet.

Your email address, password, direct messages, private library uploads, blocked-user list, reports you submit, and your payment/seller credentials are not shown publicly. Please only post things you're comfortable sharing.

5. service providers

We share information with a small number of providers who help us run Cozy Crochet. They may only use it to provide their service to us.

  • Supabase — our backend: account authentication, database (profiles, posts, chat, events, purchases) and file storage for photos and pattern files. privacy policy
  • PostHog — product analytics and session replay. privacy policy
  • Resend — sends our transactional email from hello@cozycrochet.club. privacy policy
  • PayPal — processes pattern purchases directly between buyers and sellers. privacy policy
  • Lovable — hosting and deployment of the Cozy Crochet website and app. privacy policy
  • Zoom — some community events and movie nights are hosted on Zoom. If you join one, Zoom handles that call under its own policy. privacy policy

6. we do not sell your information

Cozy Crochet does not sell your personal information and does not share it with advertisers. We do share information with the service providers listed above, because that's how the app works, and we may disclose information if we're legally required to or if it's necessary to protect the safety of our members.

7. how long we keep information

We keep your account information and content for as long as your account exists, so the community keeps working as expected. When information is no longer reasonably needed, we delete it or let our providers' normal retention windows expire. We may keep limited information longer where we need it for legal, security, fraud-prevention, accounting or operational reasons — for example, a record of a purchase.

8. deleting your account

You can delete your Cozy Crochet account at any time from inside the app: Settings → delete account. Deleting your account permanently removes your account and the data associated with it — your profile, patterns, photos, comments, chat and direct messages, saves, reports you filed and your uploaded files — apart from anything we're legally required or legitimately permitted to keep, such as purchase records.

If you'd rather we do it for you, or you have any other privacy question, email hello@cozycrochet.club.

9. children's privacy

Cozy Crochet is intended for people aged 13 and over and is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13. If you believe a child under 13 has created an account, email hello@cozycrochet.club and we'll remove it.

10. security

We use reasonable administrative, technical and organisational safeguards, including encrypted connections, database access rules that limit what each account can read or write, and server-side checks on private content and paid patterns. No internet service can promise perfect security, so please use a strong, unique password.

11. international users

Cozy Crochet and our providers operate servers in the United States and other countries. If you use Cozy Crochet from outside those countries, your information will be transferred to and processed in them, where privacy laws may differ from your own.

12. your privacy rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, export or restrict the use of your personal information, or to object to certain processing. You can edit most of your information directly in Settings, and delete your account at any time. For anything else, email hello@cozycrochet.club and we'll help.

13. changes to this policy

We may update this policy as Cozy Crochet changes. When we make material revisions we'll update the "Last updated" date at the top of this page.
